Establishment Republican ahead in Calif.

Establishment Republican Neel Kashkari (R) has pulled ahead of controversial California state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R) ahead of Tuesday’s all-party primary, according to a new poll conducted for the Los Angeles Times.

{mosads}Kashkari leads Donnelly among likely voters with 18 percent of the vote to 13 percent, the first time the former assistant Treasury secretary has had a lead in the Republican field. California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) was at 50 percent in the live-caller poll, conducted for the Times and the University of Southern California by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research.

Some Republicans have been panicked about having Donnelly at the top of the ticket — and what effect he could have on down-ticket Republicans. California has the largest number of competitive House races in the country.

The USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll surveyed 1,511 registered voters from May 21-28, and the likely voter sample has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
