Cruz: Indiana will decide the nomination

Ted Cruz says it’s all coming down to Indiana.

The Republican presidential hopeful on Friday said the Hoosier State’s primary will decide who wins the party’s nomination.

{mosads}“It gives me great comfort that this primary is going to be decided by the Midwestern common sense of the Hoosier State,” Cruz said during a Fox News town hall in Indianapolis.

Indiana may be Cruz’s last chance to block front-runner Donald Trump from winning the 1,237 delegates necessary to clinch the nomination.

Trump currently has 996 delegates, while Cruz trails with 565. Indiana, which holds its primary on Tuesday has 57 delegates up for grabs.

Cruz’s strategy, to keep Trump from reaching 1,237 delegates and win a contested convention, relies on a victory in Indiana and strong showings in future primaries, most importantly California’s June 7 contest.
