Trump takes Delaware primary

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is projected to win the Delaware primary, giving him a sweep of the state’s 16 delegates.

The state awards all of its 16 delegates to the statewide winner, giving Trump a small but potentially crucial haul as he edges closer to the 1,237 delegates required to secure the Republican nomination.

Trump hopes to follow in the path of Mitt Romney and John McCain, who both won Delaware en route to capturing the GOP nomination in 2012 and 2008, respectively.
