Bush ad: Rubio has accomplished little
Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is accusing Marco Rubio of having no accomplishments with new web ads hitting New Hampshire on Saturday, just days before the state’s primary.
The former Florida governor’s campaign has bought ads on internet search terms related to Rubio’s accomplishments, which will direct searchers to an “error page” housed on Bush’s campaign site that tells them Rubio’s accomplishments are “not found.”
{mosads}It’s a take-off of “404 error” pages, which come up when users try to access a website page that does not exist.
The page has the word “Fumble” on top, with an image of the Miami Dolphins, Rubio’s favorite football team, reaching for a fumbled football in the background. It highlights Bush’s new television ad set to hit the airwaves in New Hampshire on Saturday, which features a television appearance where new Rubio surrogate Rick Santorum could not name any of Rubio’s accomplishments.
The ad contrasts a list of Bush’s accomplishments in Florida, claiming he vetoed $2 billion in spending, cut spending and oversaw the creation of 1.3 million jobs in the state as well as 4.4 percent economic growth. And it shows Bush talking up his record in his own words.
Bush has sparred with Rubio throughout the presidential campaign as the two jockey for supremacy in the establishment lane of the party. Rubio has received a jolt of momentum thanks to a strong third-place finish in Iowa, and opponents are targeting him in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.
Chris Christie’s campaign is also running digital ads that feature Santorum’s stumbling over Rubio’s record, saying Rubio doesn’t have a strong enough resume to serve as president.
Rubio currently sits in second place in New Hampshire, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polling, while Bush sits in fifth.
