Huckabee: Republicans can’t decide what they want
{mosads}Huckabee said there was no historical precedent for another presidential race where the front-runner was replaced on almost a weekly basis.
Over the past six months, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have all had at least one period where they topped the national polls for the GOP nomination. Three of those have placed first in at least one of the first nine primary contests.
Huckabee was the evangelical favorite when he ran for president in 2008, winning the Iowa caucuses but dropping out after a string of wins by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is also in Israel this week along with four other senators.
Huckabee publicly considered running again in 2012 but decided against it.
“It’s extraordinarily more pleasant not to be on the receiving end of the beatings, and to be able to administer a few every now and then, as I see it,” he said.
