Sununu: Low turnout means GOP satisfied
{mosads}Turnout for Nevada’s caucuses on Saturday was about half of the 70,000 that state GOP Chairwoman Amy Tarkanian predicted in advance, dropping even below 2008 levels.
In last week’s primary in Florida, turnout was also lower than in 2008. But Gingrich on Sunday put the low turnout squarely on Romney’s shoulders.
“Every county that I carried had an increase in turnout over last time,” Gingrich said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “Every county that Gov. Romney carried had a decrease in turnout over last time.”
NBC News later verified that Gingrich’s assessment of the turnout situation was accurate.
