DNC hires Hillary Clinton aide

The Democratic National Committee has hired Mo Elleithee, a longtime Democratic strategist with close ties to Hillary Clinton, as its new communications director.

{mosads}Elleithee was Clinton’s traveling campaign press secretary in 2008, and more recently was a top adviser on now-Sen. Tim Kaine’s (D-Va.) campaign. He has also advised Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Tom Udall (D-N.M.), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Elleithee replaces former DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse, who spent five years in the job before leaving for the outside advocacy group Americans United for Change.

“We’re thrilled to have Mo join our team, bringing with him seventeen years of experience on some of the most high-profile campaigns in the country,” DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) said in a statement. “Mo’s experience working in the public sector, the private sector, on issue advocacy and electoral campaigns at every level will make him an invaluable asset at the DNC and for Democrats across the country.”
