‘The Daily Show’: Tomi Lahren is a ‘crisis actor’ pretending to be a victim

“The Daily Show” on Thursday called Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren a “crisis actor,” mocking conservatives who have pushed conspiracy theories about Florida school shooting survivors.

The show shared a video on its Twitter account asking why Fox News pays Lahren to play “a fake victim,” over a mash-up of clips of Lahren talking on Fox.

{mosads}“Right now, a mainstream media organization is paying a young person to pose as a victim on TV,” the video says. “In reality, this ‘victim’ is being coached to recite highly scripted talking points.”

The video calls on viewers to tweet #TammyMustGo at the Fox News Twitter account and “demand that they pull this crisis actor off the air,” invoking the running joke on social media of purposefully misspelling her first name.

The clip comes after unfounded conspiracy theories spread about some student survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas School shooting that left 17 people dead.

The conspiracy theories alleged students speaking out for gun control were “crisis actors” who were trying to capitalize on the tragedy with leftist media outlets. One aide to a Florida state lawmaker was fired for the false claim.

One student’s mother said he’d received death threats after the accusations.

A number of lawmakers and prominent politicians, including Hillary Clinton, have come out in defense of the students amid the conspiracies and have hit far-right publications for pushing the unfounded “crisis actor” narrative.
