London mayor: I have more important things to do than respond to Trump’s ‘ill-informed tweet’

London mayor Sadiq Khan’s spokesperson responded to criticism from President Trump on Sunday by saying Khan had “more important things to do” than respond.

Khan’s spokesperson said that the mayor too is busy coordinating the response to the “horrific and cowardly terrorist attack” to fully respond to Trump’s early Sunday morning tweet, BuzzFeed News reported

“He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police — including armed officers — on the streets,” the spokesperson said.

{mosads}Trump tweeted Sunday that the “Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!'” after a terror attack in London left at least seven dead and nearly 50 wounded. Khan had told residents to not be alarmed by an increased police presence in the city.

“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days,” Khan said following the attacks. “There’s no reason to be alarmed. One of the things the police and all of us need to do is ensure that we’re as safe as we possibly can be.”
