Kasich: Trump’s ‘rigged’ election claim ‘silly’
Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) is mocking Donald Trump’s claims that the presidential election is “rigged” against him.
“Look, to say that elections are rigged and all these votes were stolen, that’s like saying we never landed on the moon, frankly. That’s how silly it is,” the former 2016 presidential candidate said Wednesday on “CBS This Morning.”
{mosads}“I don’t believe we have any massive fraud. We don’t have that. That’s just a silly argument.”
Kasich slammed the Republican nominee for eroding faith in American democracy by stoking fears about the election’s legitimacy.
“The problem is it does create doubt in people’s minds. I worry about 25 percent of Americans who may say when an election is over, ‘It was stolen.’ That is a big, fat joke.”
Kasich, who has avoided endorsing Trump, joked that he may write in CBS’s Charlie Rose for president.
“No, no, no, no,” he said when asked if he would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton. “No, I already said I wasn’t voting for [Trump]. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I may write your name in, Charlie.”
Trump has repeatedly insinuated the presidential election process is rigged following allegations he groped more than a dozen women.
Trump has accused the media of fixating on the accusations to help Clinton win the White House.
