Carson not interested in being Trump’s VP

Ben Carson said Thursday that he isn’t interested in being Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick.

{mosads}“I’m not interested in doing that for a number of reasons,” Carson told The Wall Street Journal. “I don’t want to be a distraction. I’m sure you remember how crazy the media was about me. I don’t want to be a distraction. It’s too important a time in our life.”

Carson, who is backing Trump after running against him for the GOP nomination, will serve on Trump’s selection committee to find a running mate.

Trump said Thursday there’s “probably a 40 percent chance” his running mate will be someone who ran in the GOP primary, and he will announce his decision at the Republican National Convention in July.

Trump has begun the vetting process for his pick, and Carson, Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could be early contenders.
