Former spokesman: Breitbart lying about Trump incident with reporter
The former spokesman for Breitbart on Friday called the conservative media outlet liars for denying that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign manager violently grabbed its reporter.
In an interview with “CNN Tonight”, Kurt Bardella, who resigned over the incident, said there seemed to be “resistance” from Breitbart toward supporting reporter Michelle Fields.
{mosads}“I certainly don’t agree with it,” he said.
Fields, who covers the Trump campaign, filed a criminal complaint Friday against Corey Lewandowski, whom she says violently grabbed her while she was trying ask Trump a question.
That same day, Breitbart published an article that called into question Fields’s story, suggesting she had misidentified Lewandowski and someone else had grabbed her.
Asked by host Don Lemon whether he was accusing Breitbart of lying, Bardella replied: “Yes I am.”
Bardella went on to say it’s obvious from Brietbart’s coverage that the company supports the Trump campaign.
“They haven’t hidden this at all,” he said.
“They have been very supportive of the Trump campaign and I think there is a desire to want to believe the Trump campaign and want to believe the statement that Corey and Donald Trump have put out. I think when you’ve gone all-in so much for a candidate, when you have that kind of skin in the game, you don’t want to see that derailed.”
