Kasich: ‘This thing’s gonna go to the convention’
Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich says the GOP race is going to be decided at the Republican National Convention in mid July.
“When I win Ohio — and I’ll be doing better in other northern states as well — this thing’s going to go to the convention,” he said in an interview on CNN on Friday morning.
{mosads}”And why not? In this crazy, crazy year, of all the things that have been said, of all the fighting that’s gone on — whatever crazy can happen seems to.”
Kasich added that he’s still amazed by some of the antics that have played out in the race.
“I mean, frankly, a lot of us just walk around and we laugh, we burst out laughing when we hear some of the things that are happening,” he said.
But the Ohio governor also said he was embarrassed by cheap shots some of his rivals have used against each other.
“I don’t think it’s the way to conduct yourself in politics,” he said.
Kasich, who has struggled to gain any traction since his strong showing in New Hampshire, has vowed to drop out of the race if he doesn’t win his home state on March 15.
