Trump won’t apologize to Columba Bush
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump refused to apologize to Jeb Bush’s wife during the second GOP presidential debate on Wednesday night.
Trump had previously told CNN in July that Bush, a former Florida governor, has adopted a more moderate immigration policy because his wife, Columba, is Mexican.
{mosads}”If my wife were from Mexico, I think I would have a soft spot for people from Mexico,” Trump told CNN in July.
“To subject my wife into the middle of political conversation was completely inappropriate, and I hope you apologize for that,” Bush said during the debate after being asked about it by moderator Jake Tapper.
“I have to tell you, I hear your wife is a lovely woman,” Trump said.
“She’s fantastic,” Bush answered. “She’s absolutely the love of my life and right here, and why don’t you apologize to her?”
Trump didn’t take the political bait.
“I won’t do that because I said nothing wrong,” Trump said. “I do hear she’s a lovely woman.”
