Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) cruised to a fourth term on Tuesday, easily fighting off a challenge from Democrat Shenna Bellows, according to multiple news outlets.
{mosads}Collins was the only GOP senator running this year in a state that President Obama captured in the 2008 and 2012 presidential races. Democrats failed to mount a serious challenge to the incumbent, even though Bellows had some support from grassroots liberal organizations.
Collins is one of the more centrist Senate Republicans in what will be a growing GOP conference.
