Jeb Bush criticized Hillary Clinton on Wednesday in Colorado, stoking speculation that he could run for president.
“This last week I saw something that was breathtaking, a candidate — a former secretary of State who was campaigning in Massachusetts — where she said that ‘don’t let them tell you that businesses create jobs,’ ” Bush said, according to The Associated Press. “Well the problem in America today is that not enough jobs are being created, [but] they are created by business.”
{mosads}Bush was referring to comments Clinton made on Friday, when she said, “Don’t let anybody tell you that, you know, it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs.”
Clinton later corrected the comment to make clear that she was referring to tax breaks for corporations.
Bush was campaigning for the GOP ticket in Colorado, including Rep. Cory Gardner, who is in a tight race to unseat Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.).
Criticizing Clinton is a sign that he could be heading toward a presidential run in 2016.
Bush’s son, George P. Bush, said on Sunday that his father is “more than likely” to run for president.
The elder Bush sought to tamp down that buzz in an interview with MSNBC at the event on Wednesday.
“He’s got an opinion, he didn’t talk to me,” Bush said of his son’s comments.
“When you have kids you’ll probably have the same frustration, you love them to death and they have their own opinions,” Bush said. “But I’ll make up my mind just as I’ve said, at the end of the year.”
