Dems tie Ernst to Palin in new Iowa ad

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is out with a new ad tying Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R).

{mosads}The ad features clips of Palin endorsing the GOP nominee earlier this year and Ernst saying she’s “absolutely ecstatic” to have Palin’s endorsement, calling her the type of person “we need in our federal government.”

“Joni Ernst would be another Tea Party vote in the Senate. Ernst would privatize Social Security. She’d cut taxes for millionaires and eliminate the national minimum wage,” the ad’s narrator says. “Palin. Ernst. Too extreme for Iowa.”

Democrats have been looking to paint Ernst as a hard-line conservative, using her moves to sew up the GOP base during the primary against her, as they seek to help Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) right the ship after a few rough months.

Recent polling finds a close race in Iowa. Braley went up with a new ad of his own on Monday focused on veterans issues.
