Christie to visit NH

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is slated to fundraise and campaign in New Hampshire on behalf of gubernatorial candidate Walt Havenstein later this month.

Christie, the head of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and a potential 2016 candidate for president, will visit the first-in-the-nation primary state on June 20 for a fundraiser and a series of campaign events, according to Havenstein’s campaign.

{mosads}Henry Goodwin, a spokesman for the candidate, described the event as a “grassroots” fundraiser, not meant to attract big names and money.

The New Jersey governor has been touring the country, helping to raise money and campaign with candidates in his capacity as leader of the RGA. The group raised $23.5 million in the first quarter of the year.

Last month he traveled to New Mexico, Florida and Maine. His plans, however, in early presidential nominating states continue to raise speculation about his presidential prospects.

Christie raised money for Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) in May and is expected in July to return to Iowa, which typically holds the nation’s first presidential caucus or primary.

If Havenstein prevails in his September primary against Andrew Hemingway, he would likely face Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan.
