I cover business and lobbying for The Hill and co-author The Hill’s nightly Business & Economy newsletter. My reporting focuses on how business seeks to shape U.S. policy and how U.S. policy shapes the way we do business.
I previously covered campaign finance, lobbying and foreign influence as the money-in-politics reporter at OpenSecrets. An Investigative Reporters and Editors member, I have helped train fellow journalists to track dark money in elections and foreign lobbying operations.
My path to journalism was untraditional. I’ve worked as a barista, in a hostel on the coast of Italy, in higher education and, when I moved to D.C. in 2019, as a government contractor. After mobilizing COVID-19 facilities during the pandemic, I left contracting in 2021 to pursue a career where I could ask more questions and write every day.
Born and raised in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I graduated with a B.A. in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia in 2016 and received a Rotary Club scholarship to pursue a master’s in international affairs at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy.
