Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA to a middle-class mother and immigrant father, the implications of politics on everyday life have long been evident to Lydia McFarlane. In addition to serving as an editorial intern for The Hill this fall, Lydia is a senior at Villanova University, pursuing degrees in both Communication and Political Science as well as a co-news editor for her university’s newspaper, the Villanovan. Previously to working at The Hill, Lydia has interned with Resolve Philadelphia and Education Week as an editorial intern for both organizations. After graduating from Villanova this upcoming spring, Lydia plans to continue her career in political journalism, with a focus on social justice, equity, civic education, and government transparency and accountability.
