I write The Evening Report newsletter, hitting inboxes nightly with the latest on the White House, campaigns, Congress, national politics and culture. I first started with The Hill in 2011, and throughout my time here I’ve covered almost everything. I’ve filed from Air Force One, the presidential debates, the Democratic and Republican nominating conventions, the White House, Capitol Hill and presidential primary elections across the country. I launched The Hill's Morning Report newsletter with Alexis Simendinger in 2018. Journalism is my second career. I studied Economics at Albion College in Michigan and worked in corporate finance before becoming a reporter. I started reporting locally, writing for the Denver Westword, Law Week Colorado and the Colorado Springs Business Journal. I’ve spent almost the entirety of my Washington career reporting for The Hill. In 2021, I took a sabbatical from journalism to focus on film writing. I have one completed movie and several other award-winning scripts, including a spot on Hollywood’s prestigious Black List. My career path has taken me all over the U.S. I’ve lived in Texas, Illinois, Michigan, California, Colorado, New York and Washington, D.C.
