Sunday show preview: Debt debate, the Constitution and beyond the Beltway

The talk shows are taking different approaches to politics this holiday weekend.

Ahead of Independence Day, ABC’s “This Week” is titled “The Battle for the Constitution.” It’s a look at what the document says and which, if either, political party can lay claim to understanding its meaning.

{mosads}CBS’s “Face the Nation” goes outside the Beltway with four prominent lawmakers who are not Washington-based: Govs. Deval Patrick (D-Mass.), John Kasich (R-Ohio), Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (D).

CNN’s “State of the Union” will feature Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz), who is back from a trip to the Middle East, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan.

“Fox News Sunday” will talk to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) about budget negotiations and defect reduction plans. Then Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) will talk foreign relations.

There won’t be a “Meet the Press” on NBC this weekend as the network airs the Wimbledon finals.
