Ukrainian minister lays out steps he wants international community to take against Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday laid out a list steps for the international community to do in response to Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

The world must act immediately. Future of Europe & the world is at stake,” Kuleba tweeted

Kuleba is demanding the world immediately put “devastating” sanctions on Russia, “isolate Russia by all means, in all formats,” give weapons and supplies to Ukraine and provide financial and humanitarian assistance.

The demands come after Kuleba said Russia launched a “full-scale” invasion of Ukraine.

“Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The world can and must stop Putin,” Kuleba added. “The time to act is now.”

President Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on the phone Wednesday as residents of Kyiv and other cities heard explosions and Russian troops reportedly entered the country.

“I condemned this unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. I briefed him on the steps we are taking to rally international condemnation, including tonight at the United Nations Security Council,” Biden said in a statement.

“He asked me to call on the leaders of the world to speak out clearly against President Putin’s flagrant aggression, and to stand with the people of Ukraine,” Biden added.

Zelensky ordered martial law on Thursday and said Russia has attacked Ukraine’s military infrastructure and border guards.

Putin said any country that tries to interfere will face “consequences you have never seen.”
