Antisemitic flyers found in Florida, Virginia neighborhoods

Authorities said the latest cases of antisemitic flyers being found in neighborhoods were reported in Florida and Virginia.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported on Monday that residents in an Ormond Beach neighborhood along the Halifax River found flyers focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and top Biden administration officials on their driveways.

The Anti-Discrimination League’s Florida interim regional director, Lonny Wilk, told the newspaper that the flyers are a part of an effort by the Goyim Defense League, adding that other locations in the state were targeted.

“There has been similar flyering over the last month, month-and-a-half throughout the state of Florida and it also has been going on around the country for a few months now,” Wilk said.

“The Goyim Defense League has leaders throughout the country, including in Florida,” Wilk added. “It’s not a huge group, but one thing we know very well with hate and antisemitism, you don’t need a huge group to cause a great deal of fear in any community.”

According to the Washington Post, authorities said Fairfax County residents near Washington, D.C., also found antisemitic flyers on their properties on Sunday.

Virginia authorities said they are conducting an investigation to determine the source of the flyers, The Post noted.

Authorities also said on Monday that antisemitic and white separatist materials were dropped at homes in two Texas cities, Garland and Colleyville.

In a tweet, the Colleyville Police Department said it contacted the FBI to help with its investigation of a hate crime.

“We are aware of anti-Semitic and white separatist materials distributed in clear sandwich bags to driveways around the city overnight,” the department said. “We have been in contact with the FBI and are investigating as a Hate Crime.”
