House panel reviewing more material in Washington Commanders probe

The House Oversight Committee said it’s reviewing more material related to the Washington Commanders’ investigation of workplace misconduct.

“The Committee has received additional documents from the NFL, which we are currently reviewing. We have been clear that the NFL must stop hiding the results of the Wilkinson investigation and fully comply with the Committee’s requests, or the Committee will have no choice but to take further action,” a committee spokesperson told The Hill on Tuesday.

“The Chairs are committed to uncovering the truth about what happened within the Washington Commanders organization and how allegations were handled by the NFL in order to inform legislative efforts to make workplaces safe for everyone,” the spokesperson added.

The NFL and the Commanders had until Monday to deliver tens of thousands of documents related to the team’s investigation, according to CBS affiliate WUSA.

But the league and team officials have been butting heads over the release of those documents. In a letter last week, the NFL told the committee that the Commanders is blocking documents in its workplace misconduct investigation probe, calling Washington’s approach to the investigation “unacceptable.”

This comes as the league said it will conduct its own investigation into the new sexual misconduct allegations against Commanders owner Dan Snyder.

During a House Oversight Committee roundtable discussion earlier this month, Tiffani Johnston accused Synder of sexually harassing her during a work-related dinner.

Johnston, a former team cheerleader and marketing manager, is the first person to accuse Snyder of sexual harassment.

Snyder, who has owned the team for 22 years, is planning to conduct his own investigation into Johnston’s claims, saying in a previous statement that her claim’s against him are “outright lies.”

WUSA also reported that Medliminal, a Virginia-based medical billing compliance company, has cut ties with the organization due to the allegations.

“Medilminal will not be continuing its partnership with the Washington Commanders for the 2022-2023 season and indefinitely going forward. We are sincerely disappointed in the Commanders handling of both the facts and allegations surrounding their organization,” the company said in a statement to the CBS affiliate.
