Catherine Liu, a professor of film & media studies at UC Irvine, joined Hill.TV on Tuesday to address the struggles for power and legitimacy among social classes that exist in our modern society.
In her book “Virtue Hoarders: The Case Against the Professional Managerial Class,” Liu makes the argument that upward mobility remains an issue despite the generally accepted idea that anyone can build themselves from the ground up in current times.
“It’s a problem when you have a class that hoards all of capital and legitimacy and cultural content to itself,” she said.
