Washington Football Team defensive back injured in car crash that killed passenger
Washington Football Team defensive back Deshazor Everett was involved in a car crash in Virginia on Thursday night that resulted in the death of a female passenger, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday morning, according to reports.
Everett, 29 was behind a wheel when the car crash took place in Loudoun County at around 9:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Police added the vehicle “left the right side of the roadway, struck several trees and rolled over,” according to Yahoo Sports.
Kraig Troxell, Director of Media Relations and Communications for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed to 8News that Everett was involved in a crash on Gum Spring Road at around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
The Washington Football Team confirmed the news Friday and said in a statement, “We’ve been made aware of an automobile accident last night involving Deshazor Everett. A passenger in his vehicle lost their life and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who lost a loved one.”
The team added that Everett is currently in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy,” the statement added.
TMZ reported that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but said it was still investigating the incident.
The passenger accompanying Everett was Las Vegas resident Olivia Peters, 29, who was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.
Everett is currently in his seventh season with Washington, according to the team website, and is in the second year of a three-year, $6 million contract with the team.
