FBI confirms human remains are that of Brian Laundrie

The FBI has confirmed that the human remains found in a Florida nature reserve are those of Brian Laundrie.

“A comparison of dental records on Thursday confirmed that the human remains found at the T. Mabry Carlton, Jr. Memorial Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park yesterday are those of Brian Laundrie,” the FBI said in a statement.

In September, Laundrie’s fiancée, Gabby Petito, was found dead in Wyoming following an argument the couple had the month prior while on a cross-country road trip.

Laundrie returned alone to the North Port home he had been sharing with Petito and his parents on Sept. 1 with Petito’s 2012 Ford Transit van. He then went missing and was named as a person of interest.

On Oct. 12, Teton, Wyo., Coroner Brent Blue announced that Gabby Petito’s cause of death was strangulation

Earlier this week, Petito’s mother said on “60 Minutes” that she believed that Laundrie’s family was keeping information about her daughter’s homicide from authorities and the Petito family.

Authorities found human remains in a Florida park Wednesday and said there was a strong probability they were those of Laundrie as a bag of his belongings were found, as well.

According to reports from CNN, the Laundrie family attorney has said that Brian Laundrie’s parents have been informed that the remains located in the park were their son’s.
