Nevada governor Sisolak injured in car accident, released from hospital
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) was injured in a two-car crash Sunday afternoon, according to a statement from his office, but has since been released from the hospital.
The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m., according to Sisolak’s office. Both Sisolak and the driver appeared to sustain minor, external injuries, though the governor’s office did not offer any additional details.
Sisolak was released from the hospital at 3:10 p.m. and is now at his home resting.
“At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak was involved in a two-car crash at the intersection of Rainbow and Russell,” Sisolak’s office said in a statement Sunday night. “The Governor was released from the hospital at 3:10 p.m. He is now resting at home. No other information is available at this time.”
Sisolak was elected governor of Nevada in 2018 after beating then-state Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R), who is now waging a bid for Senate in the state.
Sisolak became the first Democrat to become governor of the state since 1994.
He is set to hit the campaign trail again next year, where he will likely face off against either former Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) or Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo (R) to retain his post.
