Tina Turner sold the rights to the entirety of her music catalogue, which spans six decades, to major music publisher BMG.

“Like any artist, the protection of my life’s work, my musical inheritance, is something personal,” Turner said in a press release. “I am confident that with BMG and Warner Music my work is in professional and reliable hands.”

The sale marks the largest solo artist deal in the entertainment giant’s history, followed closely by Bob Dylan’s 2020 deal with Universal Music for $300 million. The exact figure of Turner’s sale has not been disclosed.

In the sale, Turner, 81, has given BMG both the artist’s and writer’s shares of her recordings and control over the use of her name, image and likeness.

“Tina Turner’s musical journey has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world and continues to reach new audiences,” said BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch. “We are honored to take on the job of managing Tina Turner’s musical and commercial interests. It is a responsibility we take seriously and will pursue diligently. She is truly and simply, the best.”

During her six decades in the music industry, Turner created hits such as “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” won eight Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame twice and became the first Black artist, as well as the first female artist, to grace the cover of Rolling Stone.
