Lack of helicopter space forced Ivanka Trump, Kushner to drop plans to meet Queen Elizabeth II: book

A lack of space on a helicopter blocked Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner — former President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law who both served as senior White House advisers — from attending a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II, former President Trump and the first lady, according to a new book.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham writes in her new book “I’ll Take Your Questions Now,” set to be released on Oct. 5, that Ivanka Trump and Kushner sought to attend a meeting with the queen, the president and first lady, which would have been a breach of protocol for a state visit.

Those aspirations, however, were ultimately blocked when they could not fit into the helicopter, according to Grisham.

The former press secretary said Ivanka Trump and Kushner thought they were “the royal family” of the U.S.

“I finally figured out what was going on … Jared and Ivanka thought they were the royal family of the United States,” Grisham writes in the book, according to The Washington Post, which obtained a copy.

The helicopter incident is one of a number of revelations included in Grisham’s book. She served as White House press secretary for nine months before moving to the first lady’s office. She also spent time as White House communications director.

The Post writes that Grisham is “particularly negative” about Ivanka Trump and Kushner. The former press secretary writes that the first lady and White House staff referred to Ivanka as “the Princess,” and said she would often mention “my father” in work meetings.

Grisham calls Kushner “the Slim Reaper,” because of his ability to involve himself in other people’s projects, create a mess, then slip away to avoid taking the blame, according to the Post.

She also said the president’s son-in-law was Trump’s “real chief of staff.”

Grisham writes that she told Melania Trump “many times” that, in her opinion, if the president lost reelection in 2020 “it would be because of Jared.”

“She didn’t disagree with me,” Grisham adds.

Former President Trump slammed Grisham and her book in a statement to The Hill on Tuesday, writing that his former press secretary “didn’t have what it takes and that was obvious from the beginning.”

“She became very angry and bitter after her break up and as time went on she was seldom relied upon, or even thought about. She had big problems and we felt that she should work out those problems for herself. Now, like everyone else, she gets paid by a radical left-leaning publisher to say bad and untrue things,” he added.

The relationship between Grisham and Trump World has been acrimonious since Grisham resigned from her post in the White House on Jan. 6, following the attack on the Capitol that was perpetrated by a pro-Trump mob.

Since then, the former president and first lady have launched personal attacks at Grisham in statements.

The Hill reached out to Ivanka Trump and Kushner for comment.
