LSU to unenroll 78 students for not meeting vaccine requirement

Louisiana State University (LSU) is going to unenroll nearly 80 students for not meeting its coronavirus vaccine requirement.

“The goal from the start has been to get everyone in compliance, but while the number has shrunk, those 78 are being contacted that they are being unenrolled from the university,” LSU spokesperson Ernie Ballard tweeted on Wednesday.

In a reply to another Twitter user, Ballard said the students not in compliance started receiving emails Wednesday evening that they are unenrolled.

LSU President William Tate announced in August that students had to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 15 in order to stay in school, local outlet WAFB 9 reported.

LSU says fans at football games must be vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test in order to enter Tiger Stadium as well.

Multiple other colleges and universities required vaccination as a condition of returning to campus this fall, with those who don’t get an exemption not allowed to stay.

The University of Virginia unenrolled more than 200 students for not following its vaccine mandate.
