New York judge allows prosecutors to share videos of R.Kelly threatening victims during trial

A New York City judge has allowed prosecutors to share audio and video recording of disgraced musician R. Kelly threatening victims in his sex-trafficking trial, The Associated Press reported.

According to court documents, Kelly can be heard on an audio recording accusing an unidentified woman of lying to him before assaulting her.

“If you lie to me, I’m going to f— you up,” Kelly reportedly told the woman. 

In another recording, the R&B artist berates a woman referred to as “Jane Doe,” accusing her of stealing his luxury watch, according to the AP. 

“You better not ever … take from me again or I will be in Florida and something will happen to you,” Kelly said in the recording. “You understand what I’m telling you?”

Kelly argued that he has cameras installed throughout his Chicago-based studio and various locations to watch over his victims, the AP reported. 

Prosecutors planned on having a witness share details on the recordings, but she backed out after experiencing an emotional breakdown listening to the tapes, the document said. 

This comes a day after a witness testified that Kelly was involved in a sexual relationship with late R&B singer Aaliyah, sharing that she saw Kelly perform oral sex on the “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” singer. 

Kelly, 54, has pleaded not guilty to racketeering on other charges stemming from sexually abusing boys and women throughout his music career and faces decades in prison if convicted, the AP noted.
