Dave Chappelle, Jon Stewart to headline star-studded 9/11 benefit show
Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart will perform next month in a star-studded benefit show marking the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Associated Press reported that the two legends of comedy will be joined by fellow comedians such as Bill Burr, Jay Pharoah, John Mulaney, Michael Che, Amy Schumer and Jimmy Fallon in the “NYC Still Rising After 20 Years: A Comedy Celebration” at Madison Square Garden.
The proceeds from the Sept. 12 event will go to various 9/11 charities, according to the AP.
In a statement, Stewart said they want to help put on a show that people can enjoy.
“We wanted to put on a fun celebration to honor this great city’s resilience. It’s nice to be able to do this with friends and people we love,” Stewart said.
Stewart, who hosted Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” for 17 years, testified in Congress in 2019 for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, a bill crafted to help 9/11 first responders.
