Meghan McCain: CNN’s Cuomo ignoring brother’s scandal ‘the worst kind of nepotism’
Meghan McCain, co-host of “The View,” ripped CNN anchor Chris Cuomo on Wednesday, saying he should have talked Tuesday night on his show about the investigation by New York’s attorney general that found his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), sexually harassed nearly a dozen women during his time in office.
“You want to talk about nepotism? Not having to talk about the biggest scandal in the country when it has to do with your brother and you’re hosting CNN. That’s nepotism,” McCains said during “The View” on Wednesday. “The Cuomo family and CNN are the worst kinds of nepotism that the media has an example of.”
McCain said if it were her brother who faced the allegations, “you are damn straight I’d be talking about it on ‘The View’ this morning. And that makes all of them cowards.”

Chris Cuomo did not discuss the report or the allegations against his brother during his program Wednesday, saying, “We’re focused on COVID here, at least until we get the delta variant under control,” before launching into a segment attacking Republican governors who have resisted local mask mandates.
The CNN anchor was himself named in the attorney general’s report, which listed him as having provided advice on how to respond to the accusations when women first came forward against the governor.
The Washington Post first reported that Chris Cuomo participated in crisis public relations meetings for his brother when his accusers first came forward.
The report found Chris Cuomo sent an email in which he proposed lines that were eventually included in a late February statement issued by the governor in response to the allegations.
CNN President Jeff Zucker said at the time Chris Cuomo “made a mistake” by advising his brother, but did not suspend him, saying doing so would amount to “punishment for the sake of punishing.”
CNN did not respond to a request for comment on the attorney general’s report from The Hill on Wednesday.
McCain is the lone conservative on the daytime talk show panel and a close personal friend of top Fox Meteorologist Janice Dean, who has routinely slammed Andrew Cuomo over a separate scandal relating to coronavirus and nursing home deaths, which Dean blames for the death of her parents.
“I hope that Gov. Cuomo is either forced out of office or resigns,” McCain said. “And I hope that Chris Cuomo has any kind of retribution whatsoever for his show.”
