Still recovering from a major heat wave that plagued the Pacific Northwest in recent weeks, areas of California are predicted to surpass 115 degrees as another wave closes in.
“Temperatures are going to be about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year,” Diana Crofts-Pelayo, a spokesperson for the California Office of Emergency Services, told The Guardian. “This will be a record-setting heat wave.”

Palm Springs could reach temperatures of 120 degrees in a climate that has already ignited a number of wildfires.
Officials are increasingly worried about the health of residents as temperatures continue to soar and heat-related illnesses abound.
“When it’s hot in the day and warm at night, it really wears people down,” said Sierra Littlefield, a National Weather Service meteorologist, adding, “People should know where they can find air conditioning — whether it’s with friends or at a cooling center.”
