The Pasadena Police Department (PPD) is investigating allegations of assault by Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, ESPN reported on Tuesday.

The PPD told the sports news outlet that the alleged incident happened in the middle of May and the case could be turned over to the district attorney’s office by Wednesday, a source told ESPN.

Bauer, 30, is the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner and inked a three-year, $102 million with the reigning World Series champions in February.

In a statement, Bauer’s agent, Jon Fetterolf, told ESPN that the unidentified woman and Bauer had a consensual relationship and called her claims of assault “baseless” and “defamatory,” adding that the woman wanted to have “rough” sexual encounters with Bauer.

“We have messages that show [the woman] repeatedly asking for ‘rough’ sexual encounters involving requests to be ‘choked out’ and slapped in the face. In both of their encounters, [the woman] drove from San Diego to Mr. Bauer’s residence in Pasadena, Calif., where she went on to dictate what she wanted from him sexually and he did what was asked,” Fetterolf said.

Fetterolf also said that the woman and Bauer had “friendly and flirtatious” messages before their second encounter and that she shared with Bauer photos of her being medically treated for a concussion, which the attorney says made the star pitcher confused and concerned for her well-being.

The woman’s attorney, Marc Garelick, said in a statement that she suffered from “severe physical and emotional pain” from Bauer.

“Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible. We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr. Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client’s allegations and case seriously,” Garelick told ESPN.

Both MLB and the Los Angeles Dodgers told ESPN that they are aware of the allegations and will look into the matter.

The woman was granted a domestic violence restraining order in the Los Angeles County Superior Court against the star pitcher, ESPN noted.
