Computer glitch idles Hubble Space Telescope

Computer trouble has halted views from the Hubble Space Telescope since Sunday as NASA struggles to fix the issue and get the observer back online.

NASA said it has been attempting since Monday to fix what they believe could be a bad memory board.

Flight controllers are attempting to correct the issue from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland as the cameras on the telescope remain in safe mode.

NASA is currently working to switch the computer to the backup unit on the over twenty-year-old telescope so scientists can go back to using it for observations. 

The computer was restarted on Monday to attempt to fix the problem, but it failed.

NASA also recently announced its plans to explore Venus, Earth’s neighboring planet that hasn’t been explored in more than 30 years.
