Harris to speak at Naval Academy commencement
Vice President Harris will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Naval Academy commencement ceremony.
Harris will be at the Naval Academy on May 28 to deliver the address, the White House told The Capital Gazette.
It is unclear but likely that Harris will be the first woman to give the keynote address for the event.
The keynote speaker typically rotates between the president, vice president and secretary of Defense. Harris is the first woman to hold any of those offices.
President Biden gave the commencement address when he was vice president back in 2010 and 2015. He will be slated to give the address again along with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in the future.
Although the Naval Academy will have an in-person ceremony, the number of guests is limited due to the coronavirus, The Capital Gazette reported.
