Sales soar for patio chairs featured in Oprah’s Meghan and Harry interview
Oprah Winfrey’s sit-down with Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is leading to a buying bonanza for the patio chairs the three were sitting on during the bombshell interview.
Christopher Knight, who played middle son Peter Brady on the 1970s hit show “The Brady Bunch” and is now behind an online furniture company, said the brand’s chairs that were seen during Sunday’s CBS interview are out of stock on several major retailers’ websites.
The outdoor seating set — which feature water-resistant cushions and “beautiful open slat paneling” — reportedly regularly sell for $554.
Knight, 63, expressed surprise Wednesday that the chairs would become such a hot commodity, writing on Facebook, “In Oprah’s sensational interview with Prince Harry and Meghan this week, who would have thought the furniture would have been noticed at all, but it was…and not even by me!”
Clarifying that while the seats are sold by his company and he was not the designer of them, Knight quipped, “It would appear Meghan and Prince Harry got ‘Knighted’ in a way never anticipated.”
Nearly 18 million viewers watched Winfrey’s two-hour TV special with Harry and the former actress who was born Meghan Markle, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings.
In their joint interview, Meghan and her husband, the sixth in line to the British throne, opened up about their reasons for leaving the United Kingdom for California and for stepping away from their duties as full-time working royals.
