Piers Morgan defiant in opinion about Meghan’s Oprah interview

Piers Morgan maintained his opinion about Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on CBS News.

“On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t,” Morgan tweeted Wednesday.

“If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions,” he said.

Morgan also tweeted a photo of Winston Churchill with the quote: “Some people’s idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage.”

During an episode of “Good Morning Britain” on Monday,” Morgan doubted Meghan’s remarks on having suicidal thoughts, and labeled the interview as “destructive self-serving nonsense” that is “an absolutely disgraceful betrayal of the Queen and the Royal Family.”

Morgan stormed off the show on Tuesday after fellow presenter Alex Beresford criticized his remarks, and he left the show later in the day amid criticism of his remarks.

Ofcom, the U.K.’s media regulator, launched an investigation into his remarks after receiving thousands of complaints.

CNN reported on Wednesday that Meghan complained to ITV about the remarks because she was reportedly “concerned the impact Morgan’s comments could have on others and how it could degrade the seriousness of mental health issues.”
