Kia is recalling over 380,000 vehicles over a risk of fires, according to multiple reports.

The vehicles are being recalled because an electrical circuit could cause a fire in the engine compartment, Reuters reported.

The news service noted that Kia advised owners to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is finished. No fires, crashes or injuries have been reported due to the issue.

According to The Associated Press, the recalled models include 2017 through 2021 Sportage SUVs and 2017 through 2019 Cadenza sedans. Owners will be notified starting April 30, the news service added.

The recall is the latest that Kia has implemented over a risk of engine fires. The Korean automaker recalled roughly 295,000 vehicles in early December because an engine compartment fire could occur while driving.

The December recall included 2012-2013 model year Sorentos, 2012-2015 Fortes and Forte Koups, 2011-2013 Optima Hybrids, 2014-2015 Souls, and 2012 Sportage vehicles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating engine fires in Kia and Hyundai cars since 2019 after multiple complaints of fires, injuries, and one death. The AP noted that the auto makers were fined last years for failing to recall certain cars and inaccurately reporting information about the recalls.

Kia has denied the allegations, but reportedly wanted to avoid a legal dispute, the AP noted.
