Lincoln Project co-founder Jennifer Horn leaves organization
The Lincoln Project announced that it is parting ways with Jennifer Horn, a co-founder of the anti-Trump GOP group.
The group said Horn requested “an immediate ‘signing bonus’ payment of $250,000 and a $40,000 per month consulting contract.” That came after she asked in December for “a board seat on the Lincoln Project, a television show, a podcast hosting assignment, and a staff to manage these endeavors [to] establish immediate and long-term financial security.”
“These demands were unanimously rejected by the management committee and board,” The Lincoln Project said in a statement. “We immediately accepted Jennifer Horn’s resignation from the Lincoln Project.”
The departure comes at a rocky time for the group, which also recently split with co-founder John Weaver following allegations that he sent unwanted messages to young men, some of which were sexual in nature.
“John Weaver led a secret life that was built on a foundation of deception at every level. He is a predator, a liar, and an abuser,” The Lincoln Project said in a statement when the allegations were made public. “We extend our deepest sympathies to those who were targeted by his deplorable and predatory behavior. We are disgusted and outraged that someone in a position of power and trust would use it for these means.”
Horn, the former chairwoman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, announced in December that she was leaving the Republican Party over disagreements with the Trump administration.
Horn said she “became a Republican” because she viewed the party’s values as “a voice for equality, freedom and constitutional conservatism, with a rich history of fighting for what was right because it was right.”
“For the past five years, however, I have found myself fighting for what I thought were the principles of my party in the face of the ever-deteriorating character and integrity of party representatives,” Horn wrote in an op-ed published Thursday by USA Today. “They have revealed their impotence and decrepitude as they have fallen, one by one, at the feet of the most corrupt, destructive and unstable president in the history of our country.”
