Roger Stone thanked President Trump in person for granting him a full pardon during a brief meeting at the president’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday evening.

Stone told The Hill that he saw Trump “in passing” and that he and his wife, Nydia Stone, each “thanked him for correcting the injustice of the Soviet-style show trial I was subjected to.”

Roger Stone declined to comment further beyond a statement he released on the pardon last week.

The Daily Mail also reported on photos Stone posted on Parler showing him engaging with Trump at the club.

Trump spent Sunday evening at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach after signing the $2.3 trillion government funding and coronavirus relief package. The president is currently on a regular holiday stay at his Mar-A-Lago resort.

Stone, a longtime friend and political adviser to Trump, was convicted by a jury in Washington, D.C., on seven counts that included obstructing a congressional investigation, witness tampering and lying to investigators as part of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Stone had been sentenced to more than three years in prison, but Trump commuted his sentence in July, days before he was set to report to jail.

Trump on Wednesday evening granted Stone a full pardon. Trump also recently pardoned four other individuals convicted in Mueller’s investigation, including Paul Manafort, his former campaign chairman, and Michael Flynn, his former national security adviser.

The Mueller investigation ensnared six of Trump’s associates and dogged the president’s first term in office. Trump regularly complains about the probe, describing it as a “witch hunt.”

Trump issued dozens of pardons last week with roughly a month left in the White House, though he continues to refuse to accept Joe Biden as the president-elect.
