Rep.-elect Tracey Mann (R-Kan.) is a fifth generation Kansan who is ready to bring his political experience in the Sunflower State to Washington.
Mann, who grew up on his family’s farm, got an early taste of Capitol Hill politics, serving as the first intern for then-Rep. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), who is now a U.S. senator. Mann is now taking over the seat where Moran had served, which is known as the “Big First” because it is the largest congressional district in the state.
Mann got his career start in commercial real estate, and subsequently became involved in major Kansas organizations like Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.
In February 2018, Jeff Colyer, who ascended from lieutenant governor to governor following the resignation of Gov. Sam Brownback (R), tapped Mann to serve as the 50th lieutenant governor of Kansas.
Mann, who was endorsed by the powerful Kansas Farm Bureau, was viewed as the favorite to win in this safe red district after he won the primary.
Mann defeated Democrat Kali Barnett in the general election, and he will be taking the seat most recently held by Rep. Roger Marshall (R), who ran for the open Kansas Senate seat.
His campaign platform has touted GOP bona fides that include being pro-life, pro-guns and pro-Trump. The issues he is running on also include agriculture, revitalizing rural communities and border security, according to his website.
