Nationals Park added as DC coronavirus testing center

Washington, D.C., will add Nationals Park as a coronavirus testing site, Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) announced Wednesday.

Bowser said the venue will begin serving as a testing site Monday, and will be open Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to a D.C.-area Fox affiliate.

She added that the city will also expand testing at District firehouses beginning Monday with the same weekday hours as Nationals Park. The firehouses will also be open for testing on Nov. 29, the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, when demand is projected to increase.

Several other testing locations, including Anacostia and Judiciary Square, will also expand their hours from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Monday, according to the outlet.

In a Wednesday briefing, Bowser also said that while testing will continue to be free, insured people seeking testing will be asked for their insurance information beginning Monday. The city health department and the mayor are also asking D.C. residents to print signs manufactured by the department for Thanksgiving reminding visitors of precautions like masks and social distancing.
