Maryland reports no COVID-19 deaths for first time since late March

Maryland reported no coronavirus deaths on Thursday for the first time since March 28. 

Gov. Larry Hogan (R) called the lack of COVID-19 fatalities encouraging but urged Maryland residents to “remain vigilant” in their efforts to mitigate the spread. 

“This encouraging milestone is a tribute to the incredibly heroic efforts of our doctors, nurses, and health care workers on the front lines, and the courage and perseverance Marylanders have demonstrated in response to this unprecedented challenge,” Hogan said in a statement. 

“As we continue on our road to recovery, it is absolutely critical for all of us to remain vigilant,” he added.

Maryland has reported a total of 3,805 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, according to state data. 

The state reported 785 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing its total number of cases to more than 125,000.
