Forty-five percent of voters in a new Hill-HarrisX poll said they approve of President Trump’s handling on the coronavirus outbreak, a 3-point increase from a low point in July.
But regardless of the uptick in approval, a majority of voters (55 percent) disapprove of the president’s handling of the virus, as U.S. coronavirus death toll exceeds 200,000 this week.
The survey found men were 13 points more likely than women to approve of Trump’s handling of the outbreak, at 52 and 39 percent, respectively.
Seniors were more likely to disapprove of Trump on COVID-19.
Forty-seven percent of voters aged 50 to 64 years old and 48 percent of voters 65 years or older strongly disapprove of Trump’s handling of the pandemic.
Forty-five percent of registered voters aged 18 to 34 approved of the president’s handling of the pandemic. Fifty-two percent of voters aged 35 to 49 also approve of his performance on coronavirus.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 2,804 registered voters between Sept. 18-21. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.9 percentage points.
