Trump rips Bill Maher as ‘exhausted, gaunt and weak’
President Trump called comedian Bill Maher “exhausted, gaunt, and weak” after the host of HBO’s “Real Time” delivered a mock eulogy on his show Friday night.
“Watched @billmaher last week for the first time in a long time. He’s totally SHOT, looks terrible, exhausted, gaunt, and weak,” Trump tweeted to his more than 85 million followers. “If there was ever a good reason for no shutdown, check out this jerk. He never had much going for him, but whatever he did have is missing in action!”

Maher’s eulogy, which was performed from his Los Angeles backyard, was based on Trump not attending funerals for some public figures who have died during his presidency, including Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), former first lady Barbara Bush, and Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and John Lewis (D-Ga.).
“What kind of spectacular prick do you have to be that everyone’s last request is ‘Make sure that asshole isn’t at my funeral’?” Maher said on Friday.
“Some men look at the world and ask, ‘Why?’ Donald Trump looked at the world and asked, ‘What’s in it for me?’” the host later added.
I thought, maybe if Trump could hear what a eulogy for him would sound like, maybe that would give him some insight into himself – so I prepared a modest example for him. #TrumpEulogy #FakeFuneral #FlyWhinyLittleBitchFly pic.twitter.com/ExlTJXcafL

Maher celebrated his 500th “Real Time” episode on HBO last summer.
He has been hosting his weekly program from his home since the coronavirus pandemic forced all late-night comedians to broadcast remotely without studio audiences since March.
