HuffPost reporter Daniel Marans said Monday that Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D), who is prosecuting George Floyd’s case, said in an interview that he will not get behind the “Defund the Police” movement.
Marans told Hill.TV that in his interview, Ellison “immediately” declined to back the movement, with the attorney general arguing against the “pro-police/anti-police” narrative. But Ellison said he believes in the need for police reform, Marans said.
“I think he sees himself as needing to be in a position where he can be seen as something of an honest broker to bring about some of the changes,” Marans said.
